Tunnel Ventilation Systems

There are a multitude of reasons Tunnels may demand ventilation systems.

This can range from the regulation or air quality, reduction of temperatures, or even to control the proliferation and direction of smoke in the case of fire. Road, rail, and metro tunnels all demand a high quality of air during normal usage, and underground tunnels require further, more complex, ventilation accommodation in order to meet the demanded requirements.

WITT has supplied fans for national and international tunnels for over 50 years. Projects include very large axial fans for ventilation control centres and wind tunnels as well as jet fans for longitudinal ventilation.

WITT was one of the first fan manufacturers which was able to offer tunnel smoke extraction axial fans capable of operating in environments of up to 700°C for over one hour. The complete product range of us is certified for temperature classes F400, F300 and F200 according to EN12101-3.

The development of the Banana Jet ® at the end of the 1990s has led to a small revolution in the longitudinal ventilation, as huge cost savings can be achieved by the use of these jet fans.
